Amateur

Type Design

Amateur Family explores the relationship between stencil and serif typefaces, combining both contrast models: expansion and transition. It was created as a tribute to those who love type design, regardless of income.

The slightly bracketed serifs give the typeface a contemporary feel. Amateur Display has a slight influence of stencil typefaces which become evident in some lower-case characters, such as “k”, “r” and others. Amateur Stencil expands the family and pushes further the stencil exploration.

Amateur was originally conceived during the course Principles of type design at Cooper Union.
